In what was, to put it lightly, a major change in the landscape of wrestling in New Jersey, the Districts and Regions underwent a massive overhaul this offseaon. Our area, the Shore Conference, really felt these changes as for the previous 25 seasons, all of the Shore Conference was placed in Districts 21-24 which filtered into Region 6. Now, following the changes, the Shore will have at least one team in 15 different Districts, and four different Regions.

First, why the change? As most of you know, the Monmouth and Ocean County has experienced huge growth over the years. The area's population has exploded. The growth is felt everywhere, especially in the schools and , in turn, athletics. Region 6 had become the largest Region in the state. It had as many as about a dozen more schools in it than some Regions, and over 100 entrants more in the four Districts than other areas. It was felt that there had just become too much imbalance, not just here, but in other Districts/Regions, as well.

While the new alignments seem like a very drastic step, the only way to resolve the numbers problems was to make drastic changes. If small changes were made over the previous 25 years and led to the exact same new alignments, nobody would have batted an eye. It's just that this happened so quickly and the change was so large that a lot of people flew off their rockers. In my opinion between participating, following, and covering this great sport for 30 years, this needed to be done. Most those that have been around longer than I have agree as well.

So what's the point of this post? After catching up on emails and reading some of the wrestling social media spots, it seems people think that this site was no longer going to be covering certain teams, or was going to only cover Region 6 teams, etc. NOT HAPPENING. This website is SHORECONFERENCEWRESTLING.com. I am still going to cover ALL of the Shore Conference wrestling action. The Shore Conference has NOT disbanded. It's just been spread out for the postseason individual tournaments. Everything else about the Shore remains the same, as will the coverage.

Region 6 Rankings on here will simply be renamed Shore Conference Rankings. All box scores, live updates, etc. will still be focused directly on the Shore Conference. The site is going nowhere and the coverage on our area will remain the same. You won't notice a difference with coverage on here until it comes time to Districts. While I won't be able to do live updates for all the Districts any longer, I will cover Region 5-8 the same way I covered Region 6. The District/Region previews will also not be nearly as in depth as they have been in the past, but that just happens when increasing from having to cover 4 Districts to 15, and 1 Region to 4.

So, to sum it up, this is STILL going to be a Shore Conference site. I will be all over our area teams. No less than any year before.
