If Griffin Jackstadt is to become Barnegat's first ever 2-time District Champ, he will have certainly earned it, as he will likely have to go through Holy Spirit's Kurt Driscoll, last year's runner-up at 220, and a 6th place finisher in the Region, and then, most likely, #1 seed JT Cornelius of Southern, who was the D29 Champ and R8 runner-up at 220 last season. Barnegat has not sent more than two wrestlers to the Regions since 2014, but have a good shot at sending more this year with four wrestlers seeded in the money.

The Wildcats get a #1 seed in freshman Livio Mason at 106, which also might be the toughest weight class here. Travis Brown & Gavin Stewart, both seeded 2nd, are both looking for return trips to the Region, while senior Avery Maski's road to the Regions got a bit tougher with Southern's JT Cornelius electing to go 285 as opposed to 220.

The Rams streak of 23 straight seasons with a District Champ is tied for the current 2nd longest in the Shore, and doesn't show any signs of stopping any time soon. The program record for most champs in a season is six, a number they hit last year, and twice prior to 2019. With seven #1 seeds, and a few more guys more than capable of breaking through from outside the top seeds, the Rams have a great shot at setting a new single season high this year.

Weight To Watch
There are some good weights here, and several potential exciting finals. While I like that heavyweight bracket, I think the one to watch here is that 106-pound bracket. There are some great frosh here, a senior that may be able to bring that experience-edge to the table, and the top 5 seeds have all won at least 24 matches.

Southern has won nine straight District Team Titles, often completely blowing away the field. They are heavily favored to do so once again. I'm using all my confidence points in the Rams to win here.
